Hello again. Or hello for the first time.

If we know each other, hi, hello, good to see you again. If we don’t know each other, hi! My name is Jake Rivard. I’ve been covering the Detroit Red Wings since 2018, but my obsession began when I was about two years old. In one of the most startling choices a toddler could ever make, I chose to watch the Fight Night at the Joe over Barney the Dinosaur. Since then, this sport has ruined my life in the best way possible.

I’ve written for publications like The Hockey Writers, Last Word on Sports, and Winging it in Motown. From opinion pieces to Very Serious Posts, I’ve made it my goal to blend entertainment and information in bite-sized bits of hockey writing.

Now, I’ve decided to take my show to the road.

You might be saying to yourself “hey, wasn’t 313 Hockey a podcast at one point?”. Yes, it was actually the most successful sports satire podcast in the world! While I wish my former cohost the absolute best, I decided that it would be best if we put an end to the show. Still, the hunger for hockey in all its forms calls to me every day — and now we’re here.

My goal with this new iteration of 313 Hockey is to bring something new to the table. After all, what the world of hockey needs more than anything else is another white guy sharing his hot takes.
